Introduction
What happens when you turn a Porsche workshop into a restaurant for an afternoon?
For Porsche Centrum Amsterdam we developed the Porsche Workshop Déjeuner: an exclusive lunch for Porsche owners and enthusiasts in a place where you wouldn't normally sit down for a meal. Right in the middle of the workshop, among the lifts, tool carts, and sports cars, we built a full-scale restaurant for one afternoon.
Interest was high: the déjeuner sold out completely within a few hours. Guests were taken into the world behind Porsche, given a look inside the workshop, and enjoyed an extensive four-course menu by BAUT. Gastronomy and automotive craftsmanship came together in an environment that is usually entirely focused on performance and engineering.
The result
The result was an intimate afternoon where the workshop retained its raw character while simultaneously transforming into a unique fine-dining setting. Where engines are usually serviced and Porsches sit on lifts, dishes were now being served and glasses of wine poured.
It was the contrast that made the experience: refined gastronomy in the heart of Porsche's technical operations. Guests were able to view the cars up close, connect with one another, and experience Porsche in a way that went beyond a typical showroom visit.
The déjeuner brought a group of enthusiasts together around a shared passion for design, performance, craftsmanship, and great food. The rapid sell-out and enthusiastic feedback ultimately served as the best validation of the concept.
A one-time transformation from workshop to restaurant that was so well-received, one edition simply wasn't enough.
We can't build a Michelin-starred restaurant overnight. But a restaurant among the stars from Stuttgart? We certainly can.
